Pubbabhāganamākara – Paying Homage
| Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato Sammā-Sambuddhassa. |
| Homage to Him, the Blessed One, the worthy One, the Rightly-Awakened One. |
Tiratana – Going to the Three Refuges
| Buddhaṁ saraṇaṁ gacchāmi. | I go to the Buddha for refuge. |
| Dhammaṁ saraṇaṁ gacchāmi. | I go to the Teachings for refuge. |
| Saṅghaṁ saraṇaṁ gacchāmi. | I go to the Noble Monastics for refuge. |
| Dutiyampi Buddhaṁ saraṇaṁ gacchāmi. | For the second time, I go to the Buddha for refuge. |
| Dutiyampi Dhammaṁ saraṇaṁ gacchāmi. | For the second time, I go to the Teachings for refuge. |

Pañcasīla – The Five Precepts
| Pāṇātipātā veramaṇī sikkhā-padaṁ samādiyāmi. | I undertake the training rule to refrain from taking life. |
| Adinnādānā veramaṇī sikkhā-padaṁ samādiyāmi. | I undertake the training rule to refrain from stealing |
| Kāmesu micchācārā veramaṇī sikkhā-padaṁ samādiyāmi. | I undertake the training rule to refrain from sexual misconduct. |
| Musāvādā veramaṇī sikkhā-padaṁ samādiyāmi. | I undertake the training rule to refrain from false speech |
| Surā-meraya-majja-pamādaṭṭhānā veramaṇī sikkhā-padaṁ samādiyāmi. | I undertake the training rule to refrain from intoxicating drinks and substances that reduce clarity of mind. |
Anussati – Recollection
Buddhānussati – Recollection of the Buddha
| Iti pi so Bhagavā Arahaṁ Sammā-Sambuddho, | Such indeed is he, the Blessed One is a Worthy One, Fully Awakened by himself, |
| Vijjā-caraṇa-sampanno Sugato Lokavidū, | Consummate in knowledge & conduct, the sublime one, knower of the worlds, |
| Anuttaro purisa-damma-sārathi, | Incomparable master of those to be tamed, |
| Satthā deva-manussānaṁ, | Teacher of devas & humans, |
| Buddho Bhagavā'ti. | Awakened and blessed. |
Dhammanussati – Recollection of the Dhamma
| Svākkhāto Bhagavatā Dhammo, | Well-expounded, is the Dhamma by the Blessed One, |
| Sandiṭṭhiko akāliko | To be seen here and now, timeless, |
| Ehipassiko, | Inviting one to come & see, |
| Opanayiko, | Leading inwards, |
| Paccattaṁ veditabbo viññūhī'ti. | To be understood individually by the wise. |
Saṅghanussati – Recollection of the Saṅgha
| Supaṭipanno Bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho | Well practiced is, the Blessed One's community of [noble] disciples, |
| Uju-paṭipanno Bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho, | Directly practiced is the Blessed One's community of [noble] disciples, |
| Ñāya-paṭipanno Bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho, | Methodically practiced is the Blessed One's community of [noble] desciples, |
| Sāmīci-paṭipanno Bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho | Properly practiced is the Blessed One's community of [noble] desciples, |
| Yadidaṁ cattāri purisa-yugāni aṭṭha purisa-puggalā, esa Bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho: | That is to say, the four pairs of humans, the eight types of persons, this is the Blessed One's community of desciples: |
| Āhuneyyo pāhuneyyo dakkhiṇeyyo añjali-karaṇīyo, | Worthy of offerings, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a teacher's gift, worthy of reverential salutation, |
| Anuttaraṁ puññakkhettaṁ lokassā'ti. | The unsurpassed field of merit for the world. |
Karaṇīya Mettā Sutta – The Buddha’s Teaching on Loving Kindness
| Karaṇīyam-attha-kusalena yantaṁ santaṁ padaṁ, | This is what should be done by one who is skilled in goodness, |
| abhisamecca. | and who knows the path of peace. |
| Sakko ujū ca suhujū ca, | Let them be able and upright, straight forward, |
| suvaco cassa mudu anatimānī. | and gentle in speech. |
| Santussako ca subharo ca, | Humble and not conceited, contented and easily satisfied, |
| appakicco ca sallahuka-vutti. | unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways. |
| Santindriyo ca nipako ca, | Peaceful and calm, wise and skillful, |
| appagabbho kulesu ananugiddho. | not proud or demanding in nature. |
| Na ca khuddaṁ samācare kiñci, | Let them not do the slightest thing, |
| yena viññū pare upavadeyyuṁ. | that the wise would later reprove. |
| Sukhino vā khemino hontu, | Wishing: in gladness and in safety, |
| sabbe sattā bhavantu sukhitattā. | may all beings be at ease. |
| Ye keci pāṇa-bhūtatthi, | Whatever living beings there may be, |
| tasā vā thāvarā vā anavasesā. | whether they are weak or strong, omitting none. |
| Dīghā vā ye mahantā vā, | The great or the mighty, |
| majjhimā rassakā aṇuka-thūlā. | medium, short, or small. |
| Diṭṭhā vā ye va adiṭṭhā, | The seen and the unseen, |
| ye ca dūre vasanti avidūre. | those living near and far away. |
| Bhūtā vā sambhavesī vā, | Those born and to-be-born, |
| sabbe sattā bhavantu sukhitattā. | may all being be at ease. |
| Na paro paraṁ nikubbetha, | Let none deceive another, |
| nātimaññetha katthaci naṁ kiñci. | or despise any being in any state. |
| Byārosanā paṭīgha-saññā, | Let none through anger or ill-will, |
| nāññam-aññassa dukkham-iccheyya. | wish harm upon another. |
| Mātā yathā niyaṁ puttaṁ, | Even as a mother protects with her life, |
| āyusā eka-puttam-anurakkhe. | her child and only child. |
| Evam-pi sabba-bhūtesu, | So with boundless heart, |
| māna-sambhāvaye aparimāṇaṁ. | should one cherish all living beings. |
| Mettañca sabba-lokasmiṁ, | Radiating kindeness over the entire world, |
| māna-sambhāvaye aparimāṇaṁ. | spreading upwards to the skies, and downwards to the depths. |
| Uddhaṁ adho ca tiriyañca, | Outwards and unbounded, |
| asambādhaṁ averaṁ asapattaṁ. | freed from hatred and ill-will. |
| Tiṭṭhañcaraṁ nisinno vā, | Whether standing or walking, seated, |
| sayāno vā yāvatassa vigatam-iddho. | or lying down, free from drowsiness. |
| Etaṁ satiṁ adhiṭṭheyya, | One should sustain this recollection, |
| brahmam-etaṁ vihāraṁ idham-āhu. | this is said to be the sublime abiding. |
| Diṭṭhiñca anupagamma, | By not holding to wrong views, the pure-hearted one, |
| sīlavā dassanena sampanno. | having clarity of vision. |
| Kāmesu vineyya gedhaṁ, | Being freed from all senses of desire, |
| na hi jātu gabbha-seyyaṁ punaretī'ti. | is not born again into this world. |
Brahmavihāra-Pharaṇam – Reflection on Universal Well-Being
Mettā
| Ahaṁ sukhito homi, | May I abide in well-being, |
| niddukkho homi, | in freedom from affliction |
| avero homi, | in freedom from histility, |
| abyāpajjho homi, | in freedom from ill-will, |
| anīgho homi, | in freedom from anxiety, |
| sukhī attānaṁ pariharāmi. | and may I maintain well-being in myself. |
| Sabbe sattā sukhitā hontu, | May everyone abide in well-being, |
| sabbe sattā niddukkhā hontu | in freedom from affliction, |
| sabbe sattā averā hontu, | in freedom from hostility, |
| sabbe sattā abyāpajjhā hontu, | in freedom from ill-will, |
| sabbe sattā anīghā hontu | in freedom from anxiety, |
| sabbe sattā sukhī attānaṁ pariharantu. | and may they maintain well-being in themeselves. |
Karuṇā
| Sabbe sattā sabba-dukkhā pamuccantu | Whatever living beings there may be, |
Muditā
| Sabbe sattā laddha-sampattito mā vigacchantu | whether they are weak or strong, omitting none. |
Upekkhā
| Sabbe sattā kammassakā kamma-dāyādā kamma-yonī | The great or the mighty, |
| kamma-bandhū kamma-paṭisaraṇā. | medium, short, or small. |
| Yaṁ kammaṁ karissanti, | The seen and the unseen, |
| kalyāṇaṁ vā pāpakaṁ vā, | those living near and far away. |
| tassa dāyādā bhavissanti. | Those born and to-be-born, |
