Learn Meditation From A Monk

Want to learn how to meditate? Maybe you have tried it before but feel like you still don’t ‘get it’ or can’t ‘do it’? Would you like to learn meditation from a Buddhist monk? Make meditation an enjoyable habit with free weekly sessions delivered by a Buddhist monk!

Over six sessions, you will learn to still your thoughts, let go of overpowering emotions, become deeply aware of everything you experience, understand the nature of your mind, and develop gratitude and goodwill. Each session will give you tools to develop calm, contentment, acceptance, and also allows you to progressively increase the time you are able to spend in sitting meditation.

These free sessions are suitable for those who are new or interested in learning meditation. You will have the opportunity to ask an experienced Buddhist monk your own questions about meditation. Registration is not required.

  • Week 1: Learn how to do nothing
  • Week 2: Learn the basic method of meditation
  • Week 3: Learn to become mindful of everything you experience
  • Week 4: Learn to let go of stress and negative emotions
  • Week 5: Learn to understand your mind
  • Week 6: Learn how to cultivate gratitude and good will

These free sessions are suitable for those who are new or interested in learning meditation. You will have the opportunity to ask an experienced Buddhist monk your own questions about meditation. Registration is not required.

Please note: These sessions are conducted as a series and not offered on a weekly basis.  

Learn how to do nothing

This is the first session in the series of six of Learn meditation from a monk. In it, Ajahn Sādaro will:

  • Outline the how we can allow the mind to just rest and do nothing
  • Lead a short guided meditation
  • Give some guidance on common concerns and issues that new meditators face
  • Answer any of your questions about meditation

After the session, you are welcome to have tea and snacks with us. We hope to see you!

Learn the basic method of meditation

This is the second session in the series of six of Learn meditation from a monk. In it, Ajahn Sādaro will:

  • Outline the basic method of meditation – a meditation technique to calm your thoughts
  • Lead a short guided meditation
  • Give some guidance on common concerns and issues that new meditators face
  • Answer any of your questions about meditation

After the session, you are welcome to have tea and snacks with us. We hope to see you!

Learn to become mindful of everything you experience

This is the third session in the series of six of Learn meditation from a monk. In it, Ajahn Sādaro will:

  • Outline a meditation technique to become mindful of everything you experience
  • Lead a short guided meditation (slightly longer than the first week)
  • Give some guidance on common concerns and issues that new meditators face
  • Answer any of your questions about meditation

After the session, you are welcome to have tea and snacks with us. We hope to see you!

Learn to let go of stress and negative emotions

This is the fourth session in the series of six of Learn meditation from a monk. In it, Ajahn Sādaro will:

  • Outline a meditation technique to help you let go of stress and negative emotions
  • Lead a short guided meditation (slightly longer than the second week)
  • Give some guidance on common concerns and issues that new meditators face
  • Answer any of your questions about meditation

After the session, you are welcome to have tea and snacks with us. We hope to see you!

Learn to understand your mind

This is the fifth session of the Learn meditation from a monk series. In it, Ajahn Sādaro will:

  • Outline a meditation technique to deeply understand the nature of your mind
  • Lead a short guided meditation (slightly longer than the week)
  • Give some guidance on common concerns and issues that new meditators face
  • Answer any of your questions about meditation

After the session, you are welcome to have tea and snacks with us. We hope to see you!

Learn how to cultivate gratitude and goodwill

This is the sixth and final session of Learn meditation from a monk series. In it Ajahn Sādaro will:

  • Offer a variety of meditation techniques to develop gratitude and goodwill.
  • Lead a guided meditation of Grateful and generous awareness.
  • Outline the interconnectivity of gratitude and goodwill. Describe how meditation on gratitude and goodwill allows us to deeply appreciate our existence and solidify connections with others, and further, how it helps us reward those connections and pay forward our appreciation for our life. Finally, how these meditations drive us forward in contributing wholeheartedly to make the world a bit better place.
  • Answer your questions about meditation. 
  • Offer some insight and guidance on common concerns, obstacles and issues meditators face.

Ajahn Sādaro ordained in the forest tradition in Thailand in 2006. After practicing throughout SE Asia, he returned to Australia in 2015 and now resides at Newbury Buddhist Monastery in Melbourne
