Robe Offering Ceremony 2021

The BSV committee invites everyone to join the BSV Robe Offering Ceremony – a ceremony to offer robes and other requisites to the Sangha as an expression of their gratitude.

Date: Sunday, 7 November 2021
Time: 09:00 – 10:30 am (AEDT)

With the easing of restrictions, we are delighted to announce that guests are able to visit NBM to participate in the ceremony in person.  However, there is a strict limit of 100 registered guests to comply with government guidelines.

Attending in person:
It is essential to register to attend the ceremony at the Newbury Buddhist Monastery. The Online booking form is available at:

9.00 am President’s welcome message – Indira Jayasinghe
9.02 am Request to observe 5 precepts followed by Rains Retreat message and Dhamma talk by Ajahn Nissarano and Ayya Upekkha
9.35 am Robe Offering Ceremony begins with the offering of main robes to the senior monk and senior nun at NBM –  Ajahn Nissarano and Ayya Upekkha
9.45 am Blessing after the offerings to Sangha and chanting to share the merits of the gifts given to the monastics
10.00 am Vice President’s closing message – Chinta Amadoru
10.00 am  End of Robe Offering Ceremony and YouTube Livestream

Dana/Gift Offering for the Ceremony

A giver of food is a giver of strength.
A giver of clothes is a giver of beauty.
A giver of vehicle is a giver of ease.
A giver of lamp is a giver of vision.
And the one who is a giver of residence is a giver of everything.
But the one who teaches the Dhamma is a giver of the deathless.
The Buddha explains to a deva the true value of various kinds of gifts.

The offering is symbolic. Your donation will go towards supporting the NBM Sangha. This donation is not tax deductible.
