We have now reached capacity for this event. Registrations (including bus seat reservations) are now closed.
The BSV Committee warmly invites everyone to join the Vesak Celebrations led by Ajahn Brahm. The event will take place at the Newbury Buddhist Monastery on Sunday 22nd May at 9.15 am.
As lunch is being provided, there is no need to bring food offerings for lunch dana.
Please arrive by 8.45am to enable the event to commence at 9.15am sharp. The programme will begin with a welcome address by the BSV President, followed by a Dhamma talk by Ajahn Brahm. At 10.15 am, there will be offering of flowers & candles, sharing & dedication of merit and chanting. Pindapatha (offering of alms food to the Sangha) will commence at 10.30 am. Communal lunch will follow in the dining area and outside the nun’s residence.
In the afternoon (1 pm – 2.30 pm) there will be a head shaving fundraising event, followed by NBM Open Day Walking Tours of the Sangha House and the NBM Stage 2A project site and a “Meet & Greet” session with Ajahn Brahm with photo opportunities. The event will conclude at 2.30pm.
Ajahn Brahm’s books and other merchandise will be on sale at the fundraising stall. All funds raised will be in support of the Newbury Buddhist Monastery Meditation Retreat Centre Project.
Please kindly note that this is predominantly an outdoor event. You are encouraged to check the weather at Newbury before leaving home and bring suitable clothes (e.g. jacket, hat/beanie) including an umbrella. The weather in Newbury is usually 5 degrees cooler than in Melbourne. It is highly recommended to wear sturdy walking shoes as the terrain is uneven and can be muddy if it has rained recently.
You are no longer required to wear a face mask in most indoor settings, but wearing a mask remains recommended. You must always carry your mask when leaving home. If not feeling well, please kindly stay and rest at home.
