DESCRIPTION:The BSV committee invites everyone to join the Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony – a ceremony to offer robes and other requisites to the Sangha as an expression of our gratitude. This year’s event will be held at the Newbury Buddhist Monastery (107 Beaches Lane\, Newbury).Date: Sunday\, 10 November 2024Time: 09:30 am – 03:00 pm (AEDT)  \nPlease arrive by 9.00 am to enable the event to commence at 9.30 am sharp. \nIn the morning there will be a Dhamma Talk by Ajahn Nissarano followed by Rice Pindapatha and offering lunch dana to the Monastics. Communal lunch will be at 11.30am. If you wish\, please bring a dish to share with the monastics and the lay community. Please bring ready-to-eat food. No food preparation and reheating available.  The Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony will begin at 12:30 pm. \nAttending in personYou are encouraged to check the weather at Newbury before leaving home and bring suitable clothes (e.g. jacket\, hat/beanie) including an umbrella. The weather at Newbury is usually 5 degrees cooler than in Melbourne. It is highly recommended to wear sturdy walking shoes as the terrain is uneven and can be muddy.  For those who suffer from hay fever or asthma\, please take appropriate precautions as the pollen count is high during spring season in Newbury \nBus to NBMPlease click HERE to reserve your seat. DESCRIPTION:BSV Vesak Celebrations 2022 with Ajahn Brahm\nThe BSV Committee warmly invites everyone to join the Vesak Celebrations led by Ajahn Brahm. The event will take place at the Newbury Buddhist Monastery on Sunday 22nd May at 9.15 am. \nAs lunch is being provided\, there is no need to bring food offerings for lunch dana.  Please register here if you wish to attend\, mainly to assist us with catering.  Bookings will close automatically once capacity is reached\, \nPlease arrive by 8.45am to enable the event to commence at 9.15am sharp. The programme will begin with a welcome address by the BSV President\, followed by a Dhamma talk by Ajahn Brahm. At 10.15 am\, there will be offering of flowers & candles\, sharing & dedication of merit and chanting.  Pindapatha (offering of alms food to the Sangha) will commence at 10.30 am. Communal lunch will follow in the dining area and outside the nun’s residence. \nIn the afternoon (1 pm – 2.30 pm) there will be a head shaving fundraising event\, followed by NBM Open Day Walking Tours of the Sangha House and the NBM Stage 2A project site and a “Meet & Greet” session with Ajahn Brahm with photo opportunities. The event will conclude at 2.30pm. \nAjahn Brahm’s books and other merchandise will be on sale at the fundraising stall. All funds raised will be in support of the Newbury Buddhist Monastery Meditation Retreat Centre Project. \nPlease kindly note that this is predominantly an outdoor event. You are encouraged to check the weather at Newbury before leaving home and bring suitable clothes (e.g. jacket\, hat/beanie) including an umbrella. The weather in Newbury is usually 5 degrees cooler than in Melbourne. It is highly recommended to wear sturdy walking shoes as the terrain is uneven and can be muddy if it has rained recently. \nYou are no longer required to wear a face mask in most indoor settings\, but wearing a mask remains recommended. You must always carry your mask when leaving home. If not feeling well\, please kindly stay and rest at home. \nBus to Newbury: \nWe have now closed reservations for the bus to Newbury. For those who have pre-booked their bus ticket\, the bus will depart from the Buddhaloka Centre (71 Darling Road\, Malvern East) at 7 am SHARP.  Please plan to be at the Centre by 6.45 am.  The bus will leave NBM for the return trip to the Buddhaloka Centre at 3.30 pm. \nFace masks are required on the bus unless there is a medical exemption. \nPlease email communications@bsv.net.au if you have any queries
