SUMMARY:The Foundations of Mindfulness - Mahasatipatthana Sutta | Pip Ransome
DESCRIPTION:Open to BSV Members & Non-Members\n\nCurrent State: Opening Soon\n\n\n\n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Teacher:\nBorn and growing up in Melbourne\, for thirty years Pip Ransome worked in community development\, fifteen of them alongside the Yorta-Yorta people of northeast Victoria. In 1993 Pip was authorised to teach meditation and the Buddha-Dhamma by highly-esteemed Buddhist nun Venerable Ayya Khema. While maintaining her own practice\, she has taught\, quietly and with diligence\, for over thirty years. She now enjoys a secluded life in a seaside village on the Mornington Peninsula\, Victoria\, while continuing to offer Dhamma. \n\n\n\nAbout the Retreat:\nIntroducing this discourse\, the Buddha said “There is\, monks\, this direct path to the purification of beings\, for the overcoming of sorrow and distress\, for the disappearance of pain and sadness\, for the gaining of the right path\, for the realisation of Nibbana – that is to say the four foundations of mindfulness.” [after Maurice Walshe ‘Thus Have I Heard’]. \nWe also know that the Buddha described his training as “gradual”\, not happening in one retreat’s practice. However\, may we all enjoy\, and make the most of\, this opportunity to practise “directly from the Buddha’s words”\, as Venerable Ayya Khema used to say. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoom Bond:\nAccommodations for this retreat will be single occupancy \n\nBSV: $730\nNon-Members: $810\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue and Times:\nSanctuary of Stillness (SOS) Meditation Retreat Centre\, 107 Beaches Lane\, Newbury\, AUSTRALIA \n\nParticipants can arrive at SOS from 5:15pm on Fri 17 Jul and a light supper will be offered at 6:30pm.\nAn introduction and welcome to the retreat will take place at 7:15pm.\nRetreat concludes at 3:00pm on Sun 26 Jul.
